Brief Synopsis
Vengeance is the initial theme to the anime. Tetsuro Hoshino is somewhat of a pickpocket to earn enough money to board the Galaxy Express. His mother was murdered by Count Mecha and to avenge her death, he needs a machine body to fight Count Mecha on equal terms. Maetel comes into the picture by offering a ticket to the planet where he can obtain a free machine body. Thus, Tetsure began his journey with a few stops along the travel. Along the way, Tetsuro encounters many different people as well as some taste of action when Maetel was kidnapped. Queen Esmerelda and Captain Harlock too make their appearance meeting Tetsuro. However, unknown to Tetsuro, slowly, he began to understand that humanity is priceless eventhough a machine body is timeless.

Opinion
Even though the animation and artwork looks a bit old, the story is superbly presented to the audience. The plot slowly uncovers itself as we, the audience, are slowly brought deeper into the message this anime is telling, humanity. The adventures throughout the journeys are each enlightening in their own ways though they seem unrelated to the main plot. The appearance of Captain Harlock and Queen Esmerelda is a big plus to their fans. The ending is exceptional mesmerizing as we wonder when will we adventure once more on the Galaxy Express 999.
